The Voice of Young Netherlands (De Stem van Jong Nederland) is a national youth project that gives young people a platform to make their voices heard in public debate. Launched in September 2025, this platform is the successor of ‘Op Weg naar Het Lagerhuis’, a familiar Dutch television format. The Voice of Young Netherlands offers thousands of schoolchildren the opportunity to debate, give speeches, and learn about our democracy every year. Through preliminary rounds in all provinces, inspiring speeches, and a national final, young people gain visibility, coaching and a network to share their ideas. The project aims to demonstrate that young people, in particular, enrich our democracy and deserve to be heard.
The Voice of Young Netherlands is organized annually by Het Debatbureau and the Youth Debate & Society Foundation, in cooperation with all Dutch provinces and is co-funded by the European Union and Vfonds.
