Toko Limburg is the third Toko exhibition initiated by Riboet Verhalenkunst. After Toko Mokum (2023–2024) and Toko Holland (2025), Riboet focuses this time on tokos in Limburg as the center of cultural heritage. Featuring video portraits of iconic tokos, visual artists drawn inspiration from the theme and, of course, the historical narrative of the Indies/Indonesian/Moluccan toko in Limburg. From 30th of May 2026—3rd of January 2027 at Limburgs Museum.
The identity is inspired on Indonesian batik patterns, the interplay of lines in the wooden sculptures of historic houses and Limburg’s European heritage: the vlaai (a famous regional pie). The typography is like the hand painted Kaki Limas (mobile streetfood vendors). Based on these cultural values, we developed matching patterns: bridging the Indonesian/Moluccan and Limburg culture.
In co-operation with Sabrina Luthjens (exhibition design), Riboet Verhalenkunst and Limburgs Museum.
